Cord Safety Information
Dorel Juvenile Group is conducting a Cord Safety Education Campaign to alert our consumers on safety information as well provide education on the potential strangulation hazards related to corded products, particularly involving baby monitors.
To help you provide your child with a safe environment in your home and keep corded products out of their reach, we have provided you with a few tips below to assist you.
- Keep corded monitors out of reach of children
- Place corded monitors at least six feet away from any child's sleep environment
- Follow manufacturer instructions for proper use and placement of cord slack and excess lengths
- Do not use corded window blinds in any sleep environment for children
- Mount tie down devices and use these wall mounts for window coverings with cords in common living areas
- Move all cribs, beds and children’s furniture away from walls with windows and window coverings
- Cut and replace tassels on window coverings manufactured before 2001 to prevent the ability for the cord to form a loop
- Check children’s clothing for drawstrings that can bunch and form continuous loops and remove the strings or clothing from the child’s environment
- Do not tie pacifiers or other children’s products with string around a child’s neck
- The most at risk group of children are ages 0-3
